THE REFEREE

Foul Detection

GOOD

Comment...
The Referee's Foul Detection was generally good.  His interpretation for what to award as a foul and what not to was consistent throughout his performance and of a very good standard with the vast majority of fouls correctly identified.   However, in the 55th Minute the referee failed to award a free kick when the  Arsenal #14 was blatantly fouled by the Tottenham #6.

Positioning

EXCELLENT

Comment...
The Referee's Positioning was excellent.  He show outstanding level of fitness enabled him to get into perfect positions with optimum viewing angles throughout the match.  This assisted him with his accuracy in detecting foul and also allowed him to get in to positions that were close enough to communicate with players to aid his man-management without getting in the way of play.   He was virtually always in an excellent position and was up with play at all times.

Man Management

EXCELLENT

Comment...
The Referee's Man-Management was excellent.   The caution of the Arsenal #5 in the 17th Minute for a foul on the Tottenham 19 was effective as it quickly diffused any aggression that could have resulted after the tackle due to the potentially intense atmosphere of the fixture.  This subsequently made the game far easier for him to referee. He also showed excellent Man-Management in diffusing the slight aggressiveness between Arsenal #10 and Tottenham #14.  Furthermore,  he made excellent use of the Tottenham Captain towards the end of the first half after a number of tackles in quick succession by the Away team on the Arsenal #10.   This stopped further offences and prevented players from being cautioned, thus contributing to his fantastic management of the game.

Card Issuing

GOOD

Comment...
The games one caution of the Arsenal #5 was justified and this contributed to the Referee's management of the game.   The Tottenham #10 was perhaps a little fortunate to escape caution after pushing the Arsenal #3 to the ground.

Fitness

EXCELLENT
Comment...
The Referee's fitness was of an exceptional standard. As alluded to in the Positioning section this contributed to his all around performance.

THE ASSISTANT REFEREES

Assistant 1 - VERY GOOD [8.0]
Assistant 2 - EXCELLENT [9.2]

Comment...
Assistant #1 had a Very Good game and made several good Offside calls throughout the match.   The higher mark for Assistant #2 indicates the number of tight Offside decisions he was required to make, all of which identified correctly and had an overall excellent performance.

OVERALL

VERY GOOD

SCORE

8.8/10
